Saw this video and I was totally in awe of some of the statistics. Really interesting and very well done. Love the aesthetics as well as the shock factor. Makes me consider the importance of social media and it’s huge role in the world of advertising today.

I completely agree, working with media and technology I can understand how it is an attractive concept to people. It is very convenient and allows you to interact with people that you may normally get the opportunity to. I enjoyed the video as well.
This video is definitely interesting, but also a little scary. For example, point about how most employers now use “Linked-In” to recruit new employees blew me away. What ever happened to old fashioned interviews, job applications, inquiries, phone calls. Do you now need an online network to secure a successful career? This hardly seems fair. People who may be extremely qualified for the job, but come from networks that arent familiar with Linkedin, are automatically excluded.
What about how Ellen Degeneres & Ashton Kutcher followers outnumber entire country populations. To me, this is ludicrous. If so many people have internet capability, and are tech-savvy; their wasting their abilities on mindless things. Important causes like the environment, security, health, the economy should be the focus of technology. In the big picture, knowing what Ashton Kutcher had for breakfast kind of seem irrelevant.
Other aspects of the video showed the obvious appeal of the internet. The constantly updated Wikipedia, for example, is definitely a benefit. It’s nice to have limitless knowledge and information available with the click of a button. I do, however, fear for the future of libraries and encyclopedias.
This video reminds me of the “Shift Happens” video. Another clip showing the ever expanding world of education and economy to more technologically advanced countries (like Japan/China). You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljbI-363A2Q
